Problem installing libscigraphica because of gtkextra

I installed gtkextra-2.1 just downloaded. It installed fine except that
the files (in /usr/local/lib) are called libgtkextra-2.0.* and when
trying to install libscigraphica it asks for libgtkextra-2.1. I worked
around that by doing a symlink called libgtkextra-2.1 (now compiled with
no problems) but it would be better to solve it. May be is only in my
system because of some configuration, I don't know.
