Installing Scigraphica - numarray self-test fails

I apolgise in advance if this is not the right forum in which to post 
this enquiry.  After installing GtkExtra, libscigraphica and scigraphica 
I installed numarray (not numpy) and following the instructions ran

 >>> import numarray.testall as testall
 >>> testall.test()

The summary at the end of the test was this:

1 items had failures:
  12 of  18 in numarray.array_protocol.test_Numeric
***Test Failed*** 12 failures.
numarray.array_protocol:                 0.07      (12, 18)
numarray.dtype:                          0.01      (0, 15)
Total time:                              7.60
 >>>


Since I am new to Linux I would appreciate any advice as to what I 
should do next

PS Running on Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 (fully patched)
