dirtree & filelist

hello!
i tried compiling gtkfilelist.c & gtkdirtree.c using commands like 
"gcc `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0` gtkfilelist.c -o filelist"  but i got several errors. i even included gtkfilelist.h & config.h in the default user directory of my system and tried compiling again. is there anybody who has successfully compiled these programs? i need the filelist program for my project work.....can anybody tell where did i go wrong & what i shall do for a successful compilation & running of these programs?
