I had a similar problem once. You need to undo the last steps you did on the 
file. If you have a prior version of the file, you allready done. If not, try 
the following steps

1. Save the file to a different location, so thet you have a copy of it.
2. gunzip the concerning file. (after renaming from *.sg to *.gz)
3. Now you have a native xml-file. Open it with your favorite editor and try 
to undo the last steps you did.
4. If you feel you worked a lot in it, save it, rename from *.gz to *.sg 
again, and try to open it with scigraphica again.
5. If it opens, your done. If not, again to step 2 until it opens.

I know this can be a very long procedure, but is AFAIK the only way not to 
have to do the WHOLE work again.

If you found out the problem, please send a bug report to this list. If you're 
unable to find the error, send the whole file (of course the original one) to 
this list, so we can try to figure out your problem.
