Plotting values in realtime with an extending canvas

Hi,

I have looked at the testrealtime example and I have a couple of
questions. I was wondering for one if it is possible to have the
values remain starting from 0 and then have the actual canvas getting
extended with the possibility of then scrolling back with the
scrollbar.

Furthermore, I have tried just making simple graphs but got so many
different errors while trying to compile that it isn't funny. I was
wondering if someone can tell me what the dependencies are that I
should include in compiling the testrealtime example. I have tried
looking at the Makefile and I just got lost, I'm pretty new to
programming.
