Is gtk_plot_data_set_points() deprecated?

Hello.

The header file gtkplotdata.h from gtk+extra-2 has
a comment stating that the function gtk_plot_data_set_points()
is old, and is kept for compatibility. If so, what
is the recommended way of setting the data
for plotting?

The examples does not seem to demonstrate other
ways of setting the data.
