I thought this had been answered, but anyway: Underscores were the old  
standard which changed to dashes. Either will now work in code, but  
dashes are preferred and should be used in preference in documentation.  
There is also a tiny performance hit to using underscores in code, but  
I doubt very much you could measure it. The documentation for  
g_signal_new does talk about this a little.
