I hope you do not mind that I am sending this to the list as others may 
want to participate in this discussion and there is a perception in some 
places that gtkextra is dead.

In my mind, gtkextra-3 should be used for gtk+3. I do not see a time 
scale for gtk+3, but I do see that the effort is to lock down the 
interface and removed depreciated features. This has serious 
implications for gtkextra.

 From my current understanding of the short term goals, would it be 
better to rename the gtkextra-3 tree something like gtkextra-2.2?
