problems adding widgets to sheet

Hi,

as described in bug report 899749, I have a problem 
adding widgets to a sheet (gtkextra2) for which 
gtk_widget_show() has already been called. The 
symptoms are different, depending on the widget to 
be added: Sometimes the new widget simply isn't 
displayed, sometimes the widget is displayed in the 
wrong location or somehow distorted/messed up.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the reason 
for this? I could try to fix this, but for a start, all 
hints are greatly appreciated!

How to reproduce the problem is described in the
bug report.

I'm not sure if the problem only occurs on windows, 
I have not yet had any possibility to check if
the problem also occurs under Linux.
