Adding a filter

Hi:

 I recently came across Namazu and am quite happy with
the features it provides. I've been using swish-e so far,
but may need to use Namazu to support Japanese text.

 For my purposes, I need to add a filter that can process
some special files, e.g., ones stored in XML. Is there
documentation available on how to add a filter?

 Would appreciate any help.
