Hi all,

I just learned about Snowball today and have a number of questions.

I tried the demo page https://snowballstem.org/demo.html to test Finnish,
my native language.
Is the demo using the latest version?

Finnish stemming seems very aggressive from what I can see with a few
tries. Not sure how useful that will be. The stemmed forms in most cases
are not proper Finnish words at all, but perhaps they will be sufficient
for search if enough words are provided in the search.

Now that I think about it, maybe snowball is used in some Finnish web pages
for search, as those sometimes indicate things found when there are no
human words matched.

Is there any ranking for languages which perform best with snowball?

I would like to use it with a number of languages, but I'm not conversant
in all of them, so if there is a "heads up" for some languages, I'd
appreciate it.

Best regards,
Harri
