Hi, Nikhil. There is rarely preparation that makes sense for a
specific project (beyond getting a plan in place, which was part of
your proposal). However we strongly recommend that you follow our
guide for potential GSoC students in full, which suggests trying a
'bite sized' project or fixing a bug, to get familiar with the
codebase, with our coding standards, and with contributing changes to
Xapian. There's more information on our wiki, and in our draft
developer guide [1].
