I thought I wouldn't hear from you again. It appears that Xapian-Omega forum is very silent. So based on your suggestion, I am dropping the round-about path using omega, apache, web-browser and recoll to create a text index for a list of text documents within a directory. I checked the page: https://xapian.org/docs/omega/overview.html, specifically the portion: "... The following formats are supported as standard ...". The list of file formats underneath the above-quoted line is extensive. I therefore close this discussion. I am to open a new thread in which I shall frame the next set of queries. Thank you for your suggestion. Best wishes, Rajib Etc.
