For users who are currently providing event data to DeepSight Analyzer via Snort, if you have not already done so, you will want to upgrade your Snort installation to version 2.0 to fix a serious new security problem. The current version of DeepSight Extractor 4.05 will already support the Snort 2.0 logging format, as it has not changed from previous versions. The latest version of Snort can be obtained from: http://www.snort.org/ More information on the security vulnerability can be found at the following URLs: http://www.coresecurity.com/common/showdoc.php?idx=313&idxseccion=10 http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/318669/2003-04-13/2003-04-19/0 If you are running Snort (or one of many commercial Intrusion Detection Systems) and you would like to reap the benefits of the DeepSight Analyzer service, you can obtain the DeepSight Extractor software from: http://analyzer.securityfocus.com/Download.asp Oliver Friedrichs Sr. Manager - DeepSight Symantec, Inc. - (650) 381-8045
