A Chicago federal judge found a former engineer at Motorola Inc. who was=20
stopped at O=E2=80=99Hare International Airport five years ago with compa=
ny documents=20
guilty of stealing trade secrets from Motorola but not guilty of corporat=
e=20
espionage.

Hanjuan Jin, 41, had waived her right to a jury trial on charges of=20
trade-secret theft and economic espionage, leaving it to Judge Ruben Cast=
illo=20
to announce a verdict at the hearing Wednesday.

Prosecutors accused Jin of stealing confidential information from the=20
Schaumburg-based cellphone company, knowing it would likely end up with C=
hina=E2=80=99s=20
military.

John Murphy, attorney for Jin, said, =E2=80=9CWhile we are disappointed o=
n the guilty=20
verdicts, the overall verdict is a full repudiation of everything the=20
government has pushed for five years =E2=80=94 that she was a spy.=E2=80=9D

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said the guilty verdicts should show the=

corporate community that =E2=80=9Cwe take these trade secret cases very s=
