Another avenue you can try is Information Systems Audit.  Most companies
have an internal audit departments with divisions that specialize in IS
auditing.  Although firewalls and IDS steal the spotlight, experience
conducting security and IS general controls reviews is also very
valuable experience.

On that note - I was hoping someone would have some suggetions or tips
for
me.  FIrst off, I have been actively working with pcs since the days of
coleco vision and those IBM pcs with no hard drives - I am 24 years old
now.  I have a BS in Computer Science,  CCNA, MSCE, CCSA , A+, and
Network
+ and about 3 yrs experience in the helpdesk and Lan admin field.  I am
pretty good in security issue, I have been an irc guy for years, and
have
played around with scanners/sniffers/intrusion detection toys. However I
still cannot find a position higher than that of helpdesk for quite some
time.  I am one exam away from CCNP, and studying for CISSP now. Does
anyone have any job search/interview tips or resume tips?  I also have
UNIX
experience.  Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance!

             In addition to learning UNIX, it would also be a good idea
for
you to learn
Cisco IOS and to pursue getting your CCNA (Cisco Certified Network
Associate)
certification.  Having the CCNA allows  you to pursue higher-level Cisco
certifications, including the Cisco Security Specialist 1 certification,
which
