/home is from my point of view not the correct location for storing the=20
mailboxes. Anyhow, your decision.

But you are running a distribution with systemd, so pay attention to=20
"ProtectHome" setting of the service in the unit file.

Your distribution ships with SELinux. Do you run it in enforcing mode as=20
you should? Have you then checked the context of the path and files your=20
processes aren't allowed to access?
