CTS'04 - security session : call for papers

In 2004, the International Symposium on Collaborative Technologies and
Systems will feature a security session, entitled "Security and
Collaboration".

Here is the call for papers dedicated to the security session :

Brief Description:
Collaboration relies on distributed systems that provide the required
security properties.  Virtual organizations often use the Internet to
support collaboration.  The Internet, operating systems and distributed
environments currently suffer from poor security support and cannot resist
common attacks (spamming, worms, session hijacking, buffer overflow, denial
of service, social engineering). 

Collaborative organizations require better security properties (strong
authentication, efficient encryption, Mandatory Access Control, insurance of
confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation and availability).  Nowadays,
collaborative organizations use new technologies such as mobile devices,
wireless networks or grid computing.  These environments introduce newer
needs and difficulties related to security.  Hence, collaborative
organizations and technologies face several challenges in the field of
security. 

This special session on Security and Collaboration - to be held as part of
the 2004 International Symposium on Collaborative Technologies and Systems
(CTS'04) - will focus on security issues related to distributed systems with
emphasis on collaborative environments, grid or clustering systems for
cooperation, mobile and wireless cooperation.  The aim is to have a
dedicated session that fosters closer interactions among researchers and
users communities, providing an excellent opportunity for them to meet and
discuss their ideas. 

We invite original contributions from researchers in academia, research
institutions and computer industry on these emerging and important areas of
information technology. 


Topics of Interest include (but are not limited to):
* Access Control in Collaborative Environments
* Trusted Operating Systems for Distributed Environments
* Security of Grid and Cluster Architectures
* Honeypots
* Intrusion Detection
* Encryption
* Security in Mobile and Wireless Work
* Disclosure and Integrity Issues
* Resistance to Denial of Service


Instructions for author:
Authors are invited to submit original papers to the special session
organizers by September 30, 2003.  Electronic (postscript or pdf)
submissions are encouraged and should be sent to
[email protected] and [email protected].  For other
electronic formats, please check with the organizers.  Papers should not
exceed 5000 words or a maximum of 6 pages.  Additional pages will be
accepted but with extra fees.  Include up to 5 keywords and an abstract of
no more than 250 words.  Submissions should also include the title, authors
name, affiliation, e-mail address, fax number and postal address.  In case
of multiple authors, an indication of which author is responsible for
correspondence should also be included.  For non-electronic submission,
please send four copies of the manuscript to one of the special session
co-organizers.  All accepted and presented papers will be included in the
CTS'04 Proceedings.

Notification of Acceptance: October 15, 2003
Registration & Camera-Ready Paper Due: October 31, 2003
