As far as raccoon is concerned, no.  (At least on 1.34, which was the 
version I discovered this on.)  And if you say the local network is 
192.168.0.0/24 and on the other box you say the remote network is 
192.168.0.1/24 raccoon will choke, and you will get some unusual 
failures, but nothing in the logs to tell you that this is the problem. 
(Well, they kind of tell you but it is really unclear...) Try it and 
see.  Having been there and done that with a sonicwall, I thought I 
would share. :)  It is also why for the local network I never choose 
"LAN Subnet" as I don't know if it will math up right at the other end.
