Following up on my previous post. I'm using serial version 1.34a successfu= lly on a WG Firebox X1000, with an Atheros 5212 wireless card. I think I may have a shoddy wireless card, because the range is limited and= I'm having some trouble with authentication. But on the LAN/WAN side the = software runs like a top, not a hint of the timeout issues I saw before. U= nfortunately I'm not 100% sure what I did to get it working so well, but a = couple of things are worth mentioning: 1. I cleaned the CF card with Windows 7 diskpart before imaging it. 2. I've been connecting network cables to other devices (modem, router, et= c.), THEN powering the unit up. Beyond that I'm just doing a generic recommended install. I upgraded to 1.= 8.1 but that appeared to kill my serial access, so I rolled back to 1.34a. Congratulations to Manuel for a great design. The interface is perfect in = it's scope and simplicity. I think you're very wise not to get carried awa= y with adding features the way many software developers do. A couple of questions: 1. I'm using HTTPS to access the webgui, and I've created my own pem key a= nd certificate which are working fine with one-way authentication. Is ther= e a way to set up mutual SSL authentication? I already run a VPN server, s= o I don't need to use any of those built-in m0n0wall security features. I = just want to know if there's a way to use dual auth for webgui access. 2. My system time is correct and syncs with an NTP server, but my log time= differs from the system time by about an hour (not exactly). Thanks again for a great piece of software (on a superb OS).
