What the....?
ntpdate has always worked with the "-u" on all my Smoothwall boxes.
Do you have a non-standard version of ntpdate on your Smoothie?
On my Smoothwall 2.0 fixes4 box:
[root@gandalf root]# ntpdate -u time.uwa.edu.au
16 Oct 08:35:24 ntpdate[17159]: adjust time server 130.95.128.58 offset
-0.016996 sec
