can't connect to machine on orange - internaly or externally

Having real problems.


green 192.168.1.1
red ethernet bb - dhcp
orange 192.168.10.1

Got a laptop running 98 connected via orange manually on 192.168.10.4  
everything seems to work fine.

replaced the laptop with a linux box (debian) manually configured the ip, dns 
and gateway etc.  But don't seem to be able to get anything in or out of it.

When i try and ping the orange card from it i get destination unreachable when 
i try to ping a urs from it i get unknown host as if the dns is not working.

Any ideas would be greatfully apreaciated
