What really pushes up CPU usage is the use of VPNs or SSH'ing to the
Smoothwall itself. Other than that, there's no heavy burden for the CPU.

I have a P200MMX with 64MB of RAM and a 5GB hard drive to serve 3 home
(student) users. I don't use VPN and if I use SSH it's to internal machines,
not the Smoothie itself. When we're hammering the 700kb/s cable line, the
Smoothie adds no noticeable latency. Load averages for the CPU stay around
0.1!

Cheers,
Dave G.

Sing to the tune of the "Hokey Cokey"....
"You put your airbrakes in, you put your airbrakes out,
In, out, in, out and shake the 'plane about.
You try a field landing and you overshoot,
That's what it's all about"
