Why is the configure script telling me that lua is not installed when it
is installed? Whats the solution to this issue?

checking for pcre_get_named_substring in -lpcre... yes
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for LUA... configure: error: Package requirements (lua5.1 >=
5.0) were not met:

No package 'lua5.1' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LUA_CFLAGS
and LUA_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
