Dear Dave,

You can't install snort on a root called root as a folder because the root folder doesn't work good it is isolated in Linux,

Finaly I advice to use the home folder as a root thus create on Linux a home part take sense if your Linux break you restore the part home,

I hope your success,

Regards.

Dorian Rosse.
