Nihal,

I have this same error code on 7 different systems. All of them running either OL8-U7 or U8. Running lua snort2lua -c luafile.lua I get:
lua: snort2lua:1: unexpected symbol near ‘</127>’.

Running the same command with luajit in front gives the same readout “ unexpected symbol near ‘char(127)’.

Running which snort2lua give me “no snort2lua in (/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin)”.

This issue is extremely frustrating considering that I need to tool to import the 80K rules or so..

Thanks for your help,

Nick

Subject: [Snort-users] Snort3 Snort2lua Issue

Howdie folks,

I am having an issue running Snort2lua on multiple different installs. I am using snort3.1.58.0 and the snort install goes well, no issues. When trying to run snort2lua on any files I get error near character 127.

I have confirmed that lua/luajit works on my system.

When running which snort2lua, it comes back and says it is not installed either.

Thanks,

Nick
