Unable to correctly detect packets with GTP encapsulated payloads

These are the rules we've put: [image: image.png] And this is the command: sudo snort -c snort_src/snort3-3.1.18.0/lua//snort.lua -A fast -k none -q -i eth0 And this is the output: [image: image.png] The traffic has been captured in the pcap file attached. We have enabled and confirmed that the GTP inspector is working and recognising the packet. As you can see, the first rule for GTP packets is not getting triggered because snort is only classifying packets based on the payload of the GTP packet. We don't want snort starting inside the payload of the GTP Packet, We wish to be able to examine the GTP headers as well. However, we are unable to find any documentation or guides that would help us do so. We came across a feature of the GTP inspector called "decode_inner" that is supposed to aid in the correct parsing of the packet and its payload, but cannot find any suitable source of documentation that would help us implement it.
