Hello.
I'm a new snort user - running a configured and functioning version of
3.3.4.0.
I'm having trouble finding clear directions on exactly how to upgrade and
bring my install up to date. Can anyone point me in the right direction -
as far as resources that clearly outline the upgrade process - or maybe let
me know any potential pitfalls - and why I might not want to upgrade?

I'd hate to "fix what isn't broken" and end up bricking my install.
Current version is running on a Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS Virtualbox VM
