Disappointingly, after using SNORT for a month as the add-on package to =
pfSense plus for my SG5100 Netgate appliance, I have had to shut it =
down. As well as being poorly behaved and locking up often requiring =
reboots because it would not restart, in the inline mode it dropped my =
internet speed from 980/160 mbs to 40/15 mbs.=20
=20
Just too intensive for my appliance. Thanks to whoever ported it to =
pfSense but in the end I have to say goodbye. I have Suricata now =
installed to evaluate and find it has not dropped my internet speed =
significantly (950/140) even though it=E2=80=99s inline as well. So far, =
much better behaved.
