It does consume a lot of resources on the firewall (you might not want that to happen). It's not very customizable. Don't even think of adding custom made signatures. It cost only a fraction of what would cost you a dedicated IPS (such as Proventia or Cisco IPS) if you already have Check Point VPN-1. Easy to implement, you only have to apply the signatures you want through SmartDashboard.
