I don't think the scanner is broken.

Lots of people use keyboard kompinations for password, meaning that they 
are easy to type on the keyboard.

For example 1qaz2wsx where you start at 1 and type the 3 keys below and 
again with 2.

Almost all the kombinations you have listed I have seen being used in 
production environment.
