You're rashly assuming the author is a native English speaker.  Or that it's
even an actual word (or derivative thereof).  I know of a cat that was named
Miz Moppet originally, but got renamed 'Nockie' because her favorite human was
about a year old and still speech-challenged.

Remember - Biff was somebody's dog's name originally.
