As per your (Gilles's) emailed instructions, I did start with a fresh 
make.sh and while checking the /lfs folder I noticed that the xz build file 
was not the original. It's building fine now.

 I do know that two weeks ago from this exact hour I was driving myself to 
emergency in severe left flank pain, shaking chills, vomiting and brownish 
yellow urine. Turned out I have an stone too large to pass so they put a 
ureteral stent between my left kidney and bladder to bypass it and I will 
get it shattered by lithotripsy soon. The question is, did I do something to 
xz while I was sick and forgot about even doing it? I usually don't forget 
this stuff. I'm baffled. I vaguely remember working on this as I was 
contemplating going to the hospital. Jeez!
