Re: Remaining changes for 2.1

Hi all,
  first time posting.  I tried to put kernel 3.2.28 into 2.1 as well.  The reason I did it was to use the 3.x kernel version of a usb ethernet (Davicom dm9601 - the cheap kind you can find on ebay) + a netbook ethernet driver.  Glad to hear (not really) that I'm not the only one with the wanpipe problem.  I tried all kinds of things but to no avail.  I thought that it was because I was compiling a 3.2 kernel on my 2.6 build machine.  I had to make all the changes in the wanpipe shell scripts/makefiles that used 'uname -r' etc, but at the end of it, the compiler still quit with some struct not being defined properly.  It was very odd & I just gave up and made my changes into the 2.0.x release, and it worked. 

was your build machine a 3.x kernel?  

also, I believe that the dosfstools download site no longer works.  and I think the 3.x kernel's driver for the Davicom usb dm9601 might still need modifications because all the devices have the same ethernet mac address (probably one reason why they are so cheap).  If you have more than 1 of those devices on a machine, that could be a problem (yes, I realize that you can deal with this using ifconfig too but it seemed like more work).

There are some other gotchas that I'll try to review and post when I get home tonite or tomorrow.

The 3.4 kernel sounds good to me and I have for some time had the cobalt 
patch updated for 3.4 and beyond.

  As far as Wanpipe goes, I could never get it to work as far back as 
1.4.21 with a Sangoma S518 (OEM Traverse Pulsar) and wound up using the 
Pulsar driver with this device which was near flawless. Does anyone use 
Wanpipe?
