Well, they are supposed to be there. I should mention that the only thing 
that does show up is the /dev/disk/by-path which points to the first drive 
on the first controller and the name of the link all start with pci.

This only recently started happening. One of my raid test boxes which I had 
a November build running on until last weekend, did not exhibit this 
behavior. I hadn't studied in detail the new udev rules which come with the 
newest mdadm yet.
