I've had good experiences with Netgear 100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps consumer 
Fast Ethernet and Gigabit switches -- nothing to mess with; just plug 
them in and they work.


My experiences with Netgear firewalls and WiFi access points has been 
mixed -- limited features, bugs/ crashes/ lockouts, slow firmware 
updates, and the technical support forum seems to be one guy without 
access to Netgear engineering.


My most recent purchase -- a pair of FVS-318G ProSafe 8-port Gigabit VPN 
Firewalls -- has been a failure:

1.  Hardware overheats and locks up.

2.  List of available Dynamic DNS providers is fixed.  (I ended up suing 
Dyn to get my money back.)

3.  Firmware and technical support as above.


Thus, I'm back to IPCop.

That product looks kinda sorta familiar.


It does not appear to be distributed in the USA:
