The manual addresses the problem of backing up a configuration, but does not provide information as to applying that backup to a machine having a different hardware configuration. I think that the network interface cards (nic) are going to be the problem; the sequence in which they are numbered in the new machine is not necessarily the sequence in which they are numered in the old machine. It would be interesting to see how IPCop handles the case in which even a single network interface card is replaced, because each nic has a unique MAC address. You might give that a try, and see whether re-configuration is necessary.
