I’m surprised nobody mentioned: it only takes one line in the dnsmasq config file to add DNS to orange. I don’t use IPCop anymore (switched to Archlinux on my firewall a while back for flexibility while still being minimalist; I just monitor the mailing list from time to time as a matter of interest), but I recall making a slight modification to the CGI file that generates the dnsmasq config file to add something like: no-dhcp-interface=orange to the dnsmasq config file before IPCop added the dnsmasq.local config file (I suspect that was 1.4? I think they added the local config file in 1.9, but I could be mistaken). Now it’s as simple as running the following command: # echo “no-dhcp-interface=orange” >> /var/ipcop/dhcp/dnsmasq.local This gives orange DNS service as long as you configure the server(s) needing DNS to use the IPCop box as its DNS server (for instance in resolv.conf) without giving full DHCP services to orange.
