I have had a longer look tonight and find that enabling the web proxy function makes http work again, and transparent connection seems to work ok. Unfortunately making https work is becoming a nightmare, not good when most sites are now using https. I have found a how-to but it still requires proxy autoconfiguration, something that will be beyond my itinerant user base. I'm taking a break from IPCOP now to see if another firewall can better fit my needs. Thanks for the exchanges thus far.
