Re: Installation on Supermicro 5018A-FTN4

Hi,

  Does your board have a hard drive or are you trying to install to flash?
It looks like the 5018A-FTN4 has both video and SATA chips and sockets...
Here are some clues from a pfSense install that I found using google:

  I think I would try using a USB CD drive first to see if it would just
load from the CD... If you are going to use a mechanical HD, then you
might try using some other machine to load IPCop from the CD to the HD and
then move the HD to the 5018A-FTN4...

  I have installed IPCop to flash for the PC Engines APU platform (see
<https://pcengines.ch/apu.htm>).... The nice thing about some of these
little platforms is the cost and the miniPCI express slots that let you
use wifi radios for a wifi access point in the same box... Netgate used to
sell these boards and a variety of add-on equipment for them including a
nice anodized aluminum case... The board is fanless and cleverly uses the
case for heat dissapation resuting in no moving parts and silent
operation. Don't know why Netgate has stopped carrying them...
