Backup and Restore Failure

Hello I have been trying to copy settings from my old IPCop box to the fresh installation on a new machine. I have a rather complex setup and I would rather not do it manually. I have followed the instructions here: IPCop Settings Backup Instructions <http://www.ipcop.org/1.4.0/en/admin/html/system.html> for USB without success. As far as I can tell, the instructions are wrong. So far I have spent more time on this than it would have taken to manually enter the configuration. I tried to load the backup during installation but it said there was no USB stick even though the installation was being done from a USB stick. The instructions say I will be prompted for a backup key during a restore, but I don't. I have tried copying the old key across to the /var/ipcop/backup/backup.key file on the new machine. Does anyone know how restore actually works?
