David,

I have around roughly 6 years of experience with EnGenius equipment -
starting from the EAP300 up to the EAP1200. Every WAP that I've used
(every model between those listed) has worked with my Linux
laptops/Android phones & tablets without issue.

I can state with absolutely certainty that their WAPs are reliable.
Only 2 that I am aware of (out of over 1500 units) ever failed - 1 was
due to a rabbit chewing through the power cord and the other genuinely
failed.

If you are going to get an EnGenius device, skip the EAP series (SOHO) -
go directly to the EWS series (managed). You will get more 5GHz
channels (DFS) - thereby, better throughput.
