IPCop with 4G LTE router, PPPoE not applicable. How to connect ?

I have been using IPCop with a PPPoE modem (Kyocera for Burst technology in South Africa) since 2006. I have a simple Red=PPPoE, Green=wifi switch setup. It runs on an Intel Atom D410 in a fanless VESA-mount chassis and an SSD. I also run a lot of add-ons and really love IPCop.


My ISP is phasing out the Burst technology and I am on an early-adopter trial with a Huawei B618 4G LTE router. It has nice features, but I still want to have my IPCop machine between myself an the internet. With PPPoE I had to supply credentials. It seems that the B618 uses its SIM card to authenticate.


Is there a way to connect the B618 ethernet port to my IPCop machine's ethernet port and connect without using PPPoE? I have tried several of the dialup options in IPCop to no avail. How do you connect when, in essence, there is no dialup?


Alternatively, if this is not possible, are there other distro's you recommend that allow such a connection ?
