Email setup test with sendmail error 256

Running IPCop v2.19 on a Dell Optiplex 260 with 1g or RAM and Pentium 4
2.00ghz proc.    Setting up email notification using GUI, test fails with
the following:   Could not send Test email:
Dec 06 00:16:31 ipcop01 sendEmail[1945]: ERROR => ERROR => SMTP-AUTH:
Authentication to mail.dmuchowski.com:1025 failed. Couldn't send Email,
sendEmail exitcode: 256.   Firewall is working great with the exception of a
dynamic DNS issue.  Later for that.  

 

Been stuggling with this for several days.  I have two different SMTP server
outside of the IPCop server.  Both fail with the same errors, while both
send mail using Outlook.  Is their a work around the GUI?  Is there a script
I can edit?  Your assistance will be greatly appreciated,  -- Frank
