Position:       Sr. Security Engineer
Location:       San Jose, California, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

Closing Date:   2008-07-18

Award winning, fast growing company looking for a Senior Information Security Engineer with strong experience in network security. This individual will be responsible for assessing a wide variety of technical, administrative and physical controls. Ideally, the candidate should have IT infrastructure or operations security background with detailed and deep technical skills. The Senior Security Engineer will be the core of the team and will also be working with various groups so leadership and communication skills are essential. Senior Security Engineers are expected to provide oversight and direction, as well as mentoring for others in the team as needed. You will also be required to stay current on industry developments and trends, methodologies, and tools. Senior Engineers will occasionally be required to assist with pre-sales support in service specific areas where you have deep expertise. You will be required to and manage multiple projects across different clients - assuming a variety of roles, including project manager, technical lead, and network or application security engineer. 








JOB REQUIREMENTS

*Three to six years of information technology experience required. Desired experience should include a foundation in IT security and controls. 

*Hands-on experience with performing IT risk assessments, information security consulting, incident handling and IT audits are most beneficial. 

*Technical or professional certifications, such as CISA or CISSP, are highly desirable. 

*Bachelor's degree is also desirable, preferably in computer science or information systems. 

*Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of interacting effectively with management, as well as end-users and technology professionals. 

Experience in some or all of the following regulations or standards is bonus: 
* NCUA 
* GLBA 
* HIPAA 
* Sarbanes Oxley 
* NERC/CIP 
* ISO 17799/27001 
* PCI DSS 

The candidate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of specific IT security technologies and processes: 
* IP Network architecture and technology, protocols, routing 
* Firewalls; configuration and rule maintenance 
* Remote access facilities; VPN, RAS, thin-client 
* Vulnerability and general security analysis tools; e g. nmap, Nessus, Ethereal, Nikto, GFI 
* Penetration testing techniques and counter measures. 

Operational Experience of following technologies are not a must, but would be good. 
* Microsoft: XP, 2003, 2000, IIS 
* Unix; Solaris and Linux variants 
* Cryptography and PKI: algorithms, applicability and strength, key management 
* Directory services; LDAP, MS AD 
* 802.11 wireless 


Candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills; 
* Strong project management skills 
* Strong networking and negotiating skills 
* Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, manage their own time, and their reports effectively, and require minimal supervision in the execution of projects 
* Ability to satisfy and exceed client expectations.
