 Department Overview  
 The Systems Engineering Team partners with various Sales teams (Enterprise, Channel, Public Sector) to architect solutions for current and future customers.  The SE team provides scalable solutions for out product offerings.  
 Responsibilities  
 The Senior Services Systems Engineer, MSS, is responsible for technical pre-sales support for Symantec's Security Services Solutions. The Senior System Engineer will work with the sales team in a pre-sales role to develop and position Symantec's services. Presentations and conference call discussions are a critical part of this position. During the qualifying process, confirm that Symantec's services meet the prospect's requirements and assist sales in technical qualification. Throughout the proposal process, articulate and demonstrate Symantec solutions, influence customer's technical requirements, and position products relative to competition. Responsible for all of the technical aspects of the proposal development. The Senior SE must be able to mentor other SE's within their region and throughout the SE organization. Presents at external symposia and provides training within the sales and SE organization (others as needed) as required. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications 
This position may require travel throughout an assigned region as well as Canada, Latin America, and the United States, and may call for travel with little advance notice. Must obtain an Industry or Technical Certification (i.e. SANS, CISSP, CNE, MCSE, SUN Professional) or equivalent within time-frame established by the manager.  
  
 • 4-6 years experience in System Administration, pre-sales or related field. 
• In-depth knowledge of at least two Operating Systems: UNIX, NT, Netware or Windows 2000, and work toward attaining knowledge of other Operating Systems. 
• Presentation-ready knowledge of security products (Firewall and Intrusion Detection Systems) and product expertise of an assigned product group. 
• Networking and Network Security Experience 
• Firewall and IDS Experience 
o Firewalls: Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper/Netscreen; 
o IDS: ISS, TippingPoint, Snort, Sourcefire, Cisco, Juniper 
• Excellent communication skills. 
• Extensive knowledge of the Security Industry. Knowledge of competitive products. 
• Experience selling Consulting services and/or Managed Security Services are preferred. 
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
