Position:       Manager, Information Security
Location:       Miami, Florida, United States
Type:           Permanent P/T

Closing Date:   2008-07-27

Responsible for the managing the development, implementation, and validation of appropriate security processes and controls that safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.  The position requires constant communication with management, auditors, and other personnel to identify and plan security for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and personal computer environments.  Responsibilities include ensuring that security policies are applied through the accurate processing of requests to add, modify, and remove security access rights to a wide variety of data, applications, and pc and mainframe computer resources. 
  
Responsible for multi-site organization of 12  Security staff. 
Hire, manage, coach, train and develop staff (as necessary). Assist in planning staffing patterns for area(s) of responsibility across multiple Assurant sites 
Ensure the development of function-specific orientation and training programs for area personnel.  Establish standard for effective job performance and evaluate subordinates according to such standards.  
Responsible for the management of a department level budget, including forecasting


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must have 5 plus years experience managing technical teams of 12 or more, preferably in an IT security environment. 

Must have experience with hiring, coaching, training, drafting performance reviews and annual reviews 
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience. 
•Proven track record managing diverse staff, establishing direction and standards while maintaining a high level of trust and confidence. 
•Six to eight years of experience in information technology. 
•4 years of progressively more responsible leadership experience in information security or related areas. 
•3 years of experience in business environment and/or related knowledge. 
•Familiarity with legal and regulatory security requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB).  Aware of the implications of legislated requirements that impact security for the enterprise. 
•Experience as an IT Auditor is highly valuable preferred. 
•Enterprise-level risk management and operational risk management experience. 
•Appropriate certification or willingness to obtain (CISSP, CISM, or CISA) required.
