--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Security Engineer Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States Type: Contract Closing Date: 2008-09-18 This is a 3 month temp to hire position for our client in Gaithersburg, MD. Security Engineer Job Description Minimal travel may be required. General Responsibilities Incident Handling • Ensures the continuing accessibility and availability of a variety of mission critical applications, while adhering to standard incident handling processes • Develops, implements, and coordinates activities to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities. Policy and Procedure • Interprets existing policy and procedural controls covering: • Physical security, application and information security, system software security, contingency planning, and compliance with personnel clearance procedures. • Information technology security for systems processing multiple applications, which require differing security controls, and are typically accessed by a moderate-to-large user community. • Analyze operational activities and determine changes needed to policies and procedures. • Implement new or updated operational procedures to protect information assets and manage information security systems. • Coordinates implementation of new or updated operational procedures with staff and users (where appropriate). Operations and Maintenance • Plans and conducts audits. Recommends new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on the results of accreditation reviews. • Develops specifications to ensure compliance with security requirements at the LAN level. Special Projects • Evaluates and recommends the purchase of new security technologies and information security software. • Implements and administers IT security tools implementation to protect information assets. • Provides guidance in planning and implementing migration activities. • Identifies information systems security requirements associated with migrations to new environments. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Required General Skills • Be customer service oriented • Have excellent written and verbal communication • Be eligible for a Public Trust clearance Required Technical Skills • Comprehensive understanding of basic information security concepts and information security technology. • Ability to respond to minor and major computer security incidents. Ability to quickly adapt to Agency incident response procedures (working in a virtual team, creating and responding to tickets, attending conference call meetings, interacting with other groups.) Desired Technical Skills • Ability to edit and write Firewall Rulesets in primarily a Cisco PIX environment. Implementation of firewall rulesets controlled by an AT&T Universal Telecommunications Network (UTN) implementation. • Familiarity with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA – PL 107-305, Section iii), and working knowledge of National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) security standards. Other Desired Technical Skills • Familiarity with Cisco products, especially Cisco Security Agent (CSA). Ability to tune and manage CSA application for 40,000 user, highly distributed environment mostly Windows Server environment. • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools and processes. • Familiarity with netForensics to help complete implementation of a Security Information Management System (SIMS), including integration of syslog monitoring. Ability to manage IDS/SIMS and help interpret results. • Computer forensics skills to diagnose unauthorized computer use, from potential administrative misuse, to suspicion of criminal activity, to testimony when referred if Law Enforcement. • Familiarity with various forensics tools, such as AnaDisk, CopyQM, CrcMD5, DiskSigPro, FileListPro, FileConvertPro, SafeBack 3.0, GetHTML, GetSlack, Graphics File Extractor, WinHex, X-Ways Forensics, X-Ways Trace and others.
