--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Security System Administrator Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2008-10-11 Intermediate Windows Server Support Role Overview I. Ensuring all company Windows servers are continually monitored for performance, capacity, security, and are backed up to ensure maximum reliability for the IT infrastructure. II. Manage growth and changes to the IT infrastructure to insure consistent standards are upheld. III. Manage and participate in all projects relating to the IT infrastructure. IV. Coordinating with other IT groups to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of the IT infrastructure to meet corporate objectives. Key Results • All systems are available to all users with minimal downtime. • On-call support to provide resolution for any critical business issues occurring during off hours. • Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures to ensure full data retrieval. • Establish and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure IT infrastructure system security is maintained (including but not limited to AntiVirus, AntiSpam, AntiMalware and Firewalls) • Integration of new software that is compatible to existing systems. • Ordering/quoting/pricing of new computer equipment as required • Consistent server images are maintained to improve/resolve server support. • New software and hardware is investigated to ensure compatibility with current systems. • Conduct research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts. • The best price and service is achieved for software solutions with negotiation from various vendors. • Work with external support providers and/or vendors to resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently. • Assure alignment of Server/Workstation group with company goals. • System security is maintained to allow users to access the appropriate information. • Manage and provide guidance to Server/Workstation group’s Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements. Includes scheduled audits (monthly and annual) and monitoring of team’s overall performance. • Manage and provide guidance to junior members of the team. Candidate Profile: Education • Two year post secondary education in the field of Computer Technology. • Additional related I.T. courses and system certifications and an asset. (eg MCSE, MCP, CCNA) • System certifications, ie. Microsoft, MCSA, Citrix are definite assets. Experience • 5 years progressive server/desktop support experience working with a variety of Microsoft Windows based operating systems and applications. • Remote troubleshooting experience. • Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Windows Operating Systems (Workstation and Server), Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Active Directory , VM Ware, Windows applications and related Windows networks. • Hands on hardware and software troubleshooting experience. • Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
