The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking an Information Security Officer / Coordinator of IT Policy Development who will develop and execute a cogent and comprehensive Information Security and Assurance Program. This program will incorporate Security Policy and Compliance, campus-wide information security strategy, Security Awareness, Security Risk Assessment and Mitigation, Security Incident Response, and Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning. In the area of IT Policy Development the responsibilities include establishing a framework for IT policy development, as well as the actual development of IT policies to assure compliance with external mandates such as federal and state laws and regulations, and to support the operational needs of the university. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Preferred Experience Minimum of five years experience in information technology area, with a focus on technology management, policy development and information security, preferably in a complex, multi-platform higher education IT environment preferred. Preferred related experience includes regulatory compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and GLBA, and Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of high-level information technology, modern system integration frameworks and architectures. A broad technical knowledge of operating systems, network standards, protocols, and network architectures (wired and wireless). High level understanding of firewall systems Knowledge of Intrusion Detection Systems and network monitoring and management. Knowledge of pertinent security-related legal and regulatory issues. Knowledge of privacy issues (including federal mandates) and how these relate to information technology and information security. Knowledge of information systems audit and control. Knowledge of security administration and computer security tools Knowledge of standards, guidelines, and best practices relative to information security Knowledge of project management methodologies and project planning, IT service delivery and capability maturity models.
